Infrastructure and Services |
|
The Acton region’s infrastructures provide the population a panoply of services, and health services in particular. The Acton region has a CLSC (an organization offering primary care services), a CHSLD (residential and long-term health care) and a solidarity and health cooperative (a medical centre). There are also several well-established clinics including optometrists, dental clinics, a physiotherapy centre, chiropractors, pharmacies and a community care centre. Those who live in the region have access to all levels of education. For younger children, there are three Centres de la Petite Enfance (subsidized daycare centres) and nine primary schools. For older children, the Robert-Ouimet high school offers a general curriculum with concentrations in sports, art and science, and a professional curriculum for certain trades. As the region is so close to large urban centres, it is also possible to continue one’s education at the college, university and advanced levels all while living in the Acton region. Are you athletic? The region is full of facilities where you can practice your favourite sport. The population in the area is very active and has a long and fervent history with hockey. The many sports centres are accessible to everyone. A large variety of courses and activities are offered for people of all ages. In the city of Acton Vale, $6 million was put into renovating the sports centre, and there are also tennis courts and a 27-hole golf course known for its splendid wooded course between small valleys and streams. A 29 km biking trail goes through the city and other municipalities in the area and branches into a network of trails that cover the entire province of Quebec. A baseball field, an outdoor swimming pool and two gyms are also part of what we offer in sports and recreation. What’s more, the Acton region has horseback riding trails, several soccer fields, outdoor skating rinks, cross-country ski trails, and snowmobiling, VTT and motor-cross trails. Fishing and hunting aficionados are also well-served given the proximity of public wooded areas and rivers. The region offers several other benefits, including libraries, parks, recreational services, amateur soccer and hockey teams, cultural organizations, horticultural clubs, horseback riding schools and karate schools. The Acton region has a lot to offer; take the time to get to know it!
